Thank you for your interest in my work. I would be delighted if this music speaks to you and if you become an active participant in its creation and sharing.
My hope is that, in the space created between you and me by this music, a sense of community can emerge and grow.
This involves an alternative model of production and distribution, based on free licenses and subscriptions. Here's how it works.
To get straight to the point, click here.
This means that you can listen to it, keep it, share it, and distribute it under a set of conditions that are much more flexible than usual.
Access to and use of my creations are made easier. You are not breaking the law by storing and sharing my music.
But this deserves some explanation.
In concrete terms, this means that you don't pay to obtain it. However, there are costs involved in its creation, production, and distribution. These costs are certainly reduced due to the way I operate, but they are very real.
To cover these costs, the traditional option is to charge for the finished product and collect royalties for each use. This is a patrimonial accumulation-based approach, which consists of getting paid through the sale of creations and the limitation of uses. I have chosen a different method of financing.
But before going into detail, I would like to explain the reasons for this choice.
There are two main reasons for this.
Firstly, ethically, I do not want to keep my music to myself as a precious commodity that must be paid for. I do not want your economic status to determine whether you have the right to listen to my music. Nor do I want you to be breaking the law because you want to share one of my albums with your friends.
Secondly, economically, the traditional model does not work for independent artists. The decline in the costs of producing/distributing an album and widespread access to content that appears to be free via streaming platforms make it impossible to “sell” your music on Spotify or Deezer. This results in a exacerbated focus on respecting property rights and making it illegal for people to listen to music. Fortunately, there are other ways of doing things.
The idea is to break out of isolation, out of the separation between my work as a creator and your desire to access my creations. Think of the local-first supply chain that you probably favor for your food.
Material and financial participation is no longer used to pay for the right to listen to or buy my music, but to support its creation.
To achieve this, the contribution is separated from the product via a subscription system: you contribute to the material conditions I need to create (which are very basic), and I create music that you can enjoy freely.
The first and simplest way to create or maintain this link is to communicate. Between us, between you, with the outside world.
Talk about this music if it speaks to you, if you like it or if it irritates you. If these creations are a source of interaction with your friends or strangers, that's already a joy for me.
I'm also always very happy to hear what my creations evoke for you. You can reach me on Mastodon, Bluesky, or by email, as indicated at the bottom of the page.
The second way is to share this music with those around you, under the conditions permitted by CC licenses.
The best way to do this is to share directly with people you know will be interested, rather than posting it generally on social media. By doing so, you will also create new connections through these works.
Finally, the most direct way is to support the creative process financially, if you can.
My preferred system is subscription, because you are not buying a product (the music is libre) but supporting my work. However, buying an album that has made an strong impression on you is perfectly reasonable, meaningful, and welcome.
The subscription allows me to see how much commitment I can make. In other words, it allows me to know how much work I will have to allocate to tasks other than creation in order to live in our society, where money is needed.
I am offering an annual subscription for €12 and I am planning three recordings for 2026, including one exclusively for subscribers.
If this appeals to you, you can subscribe in a completely secure and reliable manner on the mirlo or bandcamp websites.
I would like to thank you once again for your interest in my music 💙
